PS33 Chess Club and Team

Learn chess - learn play for fun and/or play for prizes! Founded by Russell Makofsky (Coach Russ) with the purpose of creating a network of high performing chess programs at schools across Manhattan, Impact Coaching Network is please to provide the after school Chess Club and Team Training at PS33. Each program embodies a strong unique chess culture and a commitment to excellence. Each Wednesday, Impact Coaching Network provides a high energy vibrant weekly training session. Players are matched into groups based on skill, interest level & age. This allows coaches to identify and create the right training environment for each player (complete beginner - advanced). Lateral movements will occur, as we experiment with class grouping and activities to identify the optimal training opportunities for our players. Players will be promoted throughout the season as coaches feel fit. A high emphasis on participation, engagement and self-study will be placed on our team groups. On Mondays, the Impact Coaching Network Inc. provides a rigorous and fun team training program . School spirit will be emphasized and The Impact Coaching Network Inc. will work to strengthen and build the school's community through a visibly vibrant and successful chess program.

Serious Fun NYC is a not-for-profit organization providing specialized arts classes in dance, music, art and drama as well as sports β€” in addition to homework help, light snacks and active play β€” as part of a fully licensed after-school child care program. The classes are based on a particular discipline each day, for example, dance days can feature ballet and tap, art days may feature a choice between sculpture and painting, and music days can offer violin and guitar classes. The Serious Fun program is family supported, which allows flexibility: children may be enrolled for as many days per week that they need care, even if it’s just one day per week. The Serious Fun programs provide additional child care options to families who may not need or may not qualify for the city funded programs. Please visit www.seriousfunnyc.org for registration information and potential class options.
