Welcome to the PS 33 Chelsea Prep PTA Webpage!
Our PTA is a highly motivated and active body - thanks to the dedication of all our parent volunteers across our school.
We are committed to building together an inclusive and supportive school community while enriching each child’s academic experience. This becomes possible thanks to our parents who, throughout the year, take on roles as Volunteers, Class Parents, Event Committee chairs/members, PTA Officers and SLT members.
The PTA works together with parents, administration and faculty to plan and organize numerous annual family and community events. These strengthen our community and raise the necessary money to directly fund extra enrichment classes, and to support our teachers with updated educational tools, with Teacher’s Assistants and with continued professional development.
Each parent’s participation has a direct impact on the community and the educational offering of PS 33 and benefit each child’s educational experience and growth.
Parent involvement is the key to our success.

2024 PS 33 Chess Team Wins!
The PS 33 Chess Team successfully defended the Manhattan Cup for the 4th year in a row at the Manhattan Cup tournament! It was a battle to the very end, with PS 33 winning only by a 1/2 point.
As always, a big thank you to Coach Angel, Coach Tommy, and Coach Juan for guiding and motivating the team! And a huge thank you to all the families for their support!
Our PS 33 Chess Team has won 10 state championships in the past seven years, including in March 2024. In addition to our first place finish in the K-3 u800 section, we managed to get four top 10 finishes amongst our team.
Nearly 2,500 players competed at the 2023 National K-12 Grade Championships in Orlando, Florida, in December 2023. Despite fierce competition, PS 33 achieved 4 top 10 finishes. A special shout-out to the fifth grade team, who put together 5.5 points out of a possible 6 on the final day to climb the standings—and netted one of the best 3 finishes at the Grade Nationals in Chelsea Prep history. Congratulations to everyone who participated!
The PS 33 All Girls Chess Team secured its fourth All Girls State Championships title in November 2023. The team’s relentless pursuit of excellence and perseverance once again led to a well-deserved victory. The commitment and teamwork displayed throughout the tournament reflect not only the players’ individual skills but also the cohesion of the entire team.

PS 33 GETS A MAKEOVER!
PS 33 is lucky that Linda Seibert, mom to 3rd grader, Nik Vig, submitted a winning proposal for Deloitte Impact Day! On Friday, June 9th, 47 Deloitte volunteers entered our school to make it as bright and colorful as our students. Under the leadership of Linda, they worked over 230 volunteer hours to complete 11 projects across 4 floors. This doesn’t include at least 100 hours of planning at night and on the weekends that Linda spent creating a vision, drafting blueprints, researching ideas, ordering supplies, cutting hundreds of designs and hand selecting materials. None of this would have been possible without $4,500 of funding from Deloitte and their support encouraging employees to give back to their communities. The volunteers enjoyed their time as much as we loved having them. They were as productive as a professional team from Extreme Makeover. We hope our families will be inspired to volunteer throughout next year to continue our Campus Improvement initiatives that were sparked by Deloitte!
