2024-2025 TEACHER’S ASSISTANT (TA) FUND

What is the Teacher’s Assistant (TA) Fund?

The Teacher’s Assistant Fund is dedicated to funding teaching aides for K – 5th grades. TAs assist the head teachers in all aspects of our children’s day inside and outside of the classroom. TAs prepare learning materials, assist teachers with classroom management, work with small groups of students and assist with arrival/dismissal.  We assign one TA per grade so he/she can really get to know our children.  A skilled TA enables more focus on academics and teaching, more tailored group learning, as well as more individualized  attention, thereby giving our children the best possible education.

Why are parents’ contributions needed for Teacher Assistants?

The Dept of Education does not pay for Teacher’s Assistants.   Parent contributions are the only funds that can be used to hire these TAs.

If we do not raise sufficient funds, we cannot have TAs continue in the classroom.  Our GOAL is to fund one TA per grade.  Any remaining funds will be put toward a shared 2nd TA with another grade and/or rolled over to your child’s TA Fund next year.  The money follows our kids throughout their years at PS 33!

What does it cost to have Teacher’s Assistants?

The approximate cost of one full time Teacher Assistant for an entire school year is $26,000-$28,000

Hos much should I contribute to the TA Fund?

The suggested contribution is $1,600 per child. However, we welcome all contributions of any size … $750, $500, $250, $100 or $50!  We truly appreciate every family’s impactful donation - contributions of all sizes really do make a difference and are always very much appreciated and are tax-deductible as permitted by law!  Since TAs must be hired early to be able to start in September, we ask you to please make your TA Fund contributions by October 2024.

We are hoping for at least 75% participation in each class.  Even better would be 100% participation - any amount is so appreciated! Please be a part of this educational opportunity and help us reach our goals!

What is the difference between the TA Fund and the Annual Fund?

TA Fund donations strictly fund the Teacher Assistant salaries.

Annual Fund donations strictly fund all of PS 33’s enrichment programs. It is a needed financial supplement in order to keep our programs in athletics, music, science/STEM, dance, chess and the arts.

How do I make my contribution?

How do I get a corporate match from my employer?

Ask your employer if they offer a gift-matching program.  If so, you can double the impact of your contribution by requesting a corporate match. We will be happy to fill out any form required.  All corporate matches will strictly be applied to the Annual Fund.
